Yvon Chouinard
Biography:
Yvon spent most of his 34-year career in management with the Montreal headquartered Power Corporation of Canada, a $13 billion public holding company with interests mainly in the financial, biotechnology, media, oil, utilities and building supply sectors.
He was Executive Vice President of Power Corporation’s communications subsidiary for several years before moving to Power Technology Investment Corporation, a venture capital company, as Executive Vice President.
He has built a reputation for being a determined and rigorous manager who believes that an enterprise’s success depends largely on effective human relationships and the efficient use of each employee’s specific talents.
Throughout his career, he demonstrated strong capacities to increase profitability of enterprises operating in highly competitive sectors while developing a unique corporate culture directed towards action and the achievement of clearly stated objectives. He sat on several boards including the TVA Network, La Presse Group, and Picchio Pharma. He was also the chair of the Radio Marketing Bureau of Canada.
In 2004, he created Isotope Conseil inc., a consulting firm specializing in strategic planning, leadership development and human resources management. He published a certain number of articles about management, performance evaluation and executive coaching.
In 2000, he was inducted into the Canadian Broadcast Hall of Fame in recognition for his contribution to the development of the broadcasting sector.
