Veronica Royston

Biography:

Veronica Royston is an internationally experienced Occupational Psychologist, Executive Coach and Narrative Practitioner with Organisation Development and Risk Management skills developed at senior levels in management consulting, the financial services, retail, media and entertainment, manufacturing and mining sectors for blue-chip firms in South Africa, the UK and Europe.  

She has more than 18 years multinational experience as a line manager and leading large projects.  Previously, Veronica was Country Head of HR for Standard Chartered Bank in South Africa, Head of People for an online South African bank, Senior Manager for PricewaterhouseCoopers and HR Manager for Old Mutual Direct. 

She uses narrative approaches and storytelling to develop leadership effectiveness and resilience in both executives and their teams.  She combines her commercial awareness, risk management skills and psychology training to facilitate team effectiveness and to embed a risk management and corporate governance culture. 

Veronica has a particular interest in fostering diversity at senior levels in organisations and in supporting executive women’s career development.  She has experience in implementing corporate mentoring programmes, and training mentoring facilitators.  Her company is developing a reputation for introducing innovative approaches to learning and development, for example combining individual and team coaching with outdoor experiential learning adventures in the beautiful surrounds of Cape Town.    

She has run a successful private practice specialising in career and life counselling and implemented a career counselling service for the University of Cape Town’s prospective students.  She has lectured in Industrial Psychology at the University of Cape Town and presents work on executive coaching using narrative methods at conferences.

Master of Arts Degree with distinction from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.
Registered as an Organisational Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
Member of the British Psychological Society.
Trained narrative practitioner.
